The Team

This is a small description of my main characters on Dath'Remar server and a bit of their history. I have 2 seperate accounts and each is labeled according to level progression.

1.1 Cryptography

Cryptography arose to undeath sometime soon after the establishment of Undercity by the Forsaken. He believes he spent quite some time controlled by the scourge as he remembers catching the plague very early on. As a mortal man he was in early middle age working as a teamster/ sometime smuggler in Lordaeron. It’s entirely possible he was involved in spreading the plagued grain and caught the plague through close contact.

He woke to free willed undeath in the graveyard near the village of Deathknell at about the same time as a large number of others. He joined the forces of the Forsaken and was trained as a rogue. Early encounters with murlocs and the fanatics of the Scarlet Crusade woke a smouldering rage in his withered heart. Crypt raised the funds to establish the Crimson Legion guild with the aim of wiping out the Scarlet Crusade. With time other guild priorities have taken over but Crypt still takes any opportunity to mess with the Crusaders.

Cryptography has been leader of Crimson Legion almost continuously since its foundation. He’s a very hands-off leader, delegating almost all responsibility to guild officers while he is out and about exploring the world. The long time between the death of Arthas and the cataclysmic arrival of Deathwing (nearly a decade) saw a steep decline in guild activity. Various members have revitalised themselves and fought hard against the various threats in the post-cataclysm world but most of Cryptography's attention has been focussed on his close friends and his private financial empire.

1.2 Cryptoknight

Cryptoknight is a Forsaken Death knight. Details are sketchy but it is possible he was once a Forsaken Warlock known as Rigormortis, lost in the early days of The Burning Crusade somewhere in the plaguelands. He was reborn into undeath as one of Arthas's elite Death knights just prior to the Horde's invasions into Northrend. He showed early promise under the tutelage of some of Arthas's commanders but lost his way sometime during their campaigns against the Scarlet Crusade in Eastern Plagelands. He later rejoined his companions and was part of the ill-fated assault against Last Hope Chapel. Freed from Arthas's control, Cryptoknight again drifted for a period, waking up again roaming outside Lights Hope. From there he headed through the portal to Draenor and adventured there for some years.

Cryptoknight is a very damaged individual. Sometimes he’s a focussed, driven, mostly honourable warrior for the Forsaken. At other times he is so bewildered he can barely remember his own name. He is strongly tempted by the darker side of Death knight powers, most often specialising in Unholy. If true, his former "life" as an undead warlock was rumoured to be one of utmost depravity and evil, yet for the most part he tries to minimise harm to others.

When he is at his best, Cryptoknight is a great combatant with a fierce intelligence. He makes a visionary leader for small scale warfare. In quieter moments he’s a brilliant magical researcher having mastered most of the known enchanting skills available, as well as a sterling herbalist. Unfortunately his completely lucid periods are fairly short, usually months at a time at best. At his worst he has almost no functional memory and can barely maintain concentration long enough to have a conversation. Luckily he seems to retain all his skills and is still a formidable force in combat if he can be directed to the right place.

1.3 Kytlin

Rage was once Kytlin's main motivation. As a young girl orc in Durotar, she witnessed her parents being slaughtered in a centaur raid. She survived only because the centaurs were driven off by a couple of Troll adventurers who themselves rode off moments after the fighting was done. Kytlin and her pet boar Gunther eventually made it back to Razor Hill where she lived with various surviving relatives for several years. In her late teens she and Gunther undertook their tests in Valley of Trials then she adventured widely throughout Azeroth.

Kytlin had survived well enough for several years when her opportunity for revenge arrived in Desolace. Many campaigns against the centaurs slaked her bloodlust and indeed she even found common ground with at least one tribe. Successful revenge and perhaps a growing maturity quieted the rage in her heart. She rejoined the armies of the Horde during their invasions into Draenor and fought valiantly against the Burning Legion there.
Sometime later she again took service with the Horde in its battles against Arthas in Northrend. Constant battle has wearied her. In more recent times she's been off exploring the world with her pet Gunther and other members of her menagerie.

1.4 Insolence

Haughty, vain, egotistical Insolence is a somewhat stereotypical Blood Elf. She seeks power and knowledge for its own sake and doesn’t seem to mind what collateral damage may be caused along the way. A powerfully magically talented warlock, she specialises in demonology and affliction. She seems to enjoy inflicting pain and terror to her victims yet is not indiscriminate in its use. As such she's still tolerated as a useful tool by some parts of the Horde. Still, she's managed to alienate herself from almost all her friends and family, having only the weakest of links with fellow guild members in Crimson Legion. She's not really deliberately evil, more it’s that she's amoral and detached from her fellows.

1.5 Mortified

The Forsaken Mage now known as Mortified was once a brilliant young student with the Kirin-tor in Dalaran before the Scourge and plague. She must have been somewhere in Lordaeron during those events because her earliest memories are of waking to undeath in Deathknell along with Cryptography and several other Crimson Legion Forsaken. She chose to call herself Mortified due to her embarrassment at her changed appearance. She remembers that she was beautiful as a mortal, but not much more than that. She was really horrified at her appearance the first time she saw her undead reflection.

Many years later she has grown to quite enjoy her undead status and the immortality it provides. She’s more of an administrator and researcher than adventurer so has played little part in the events of recent decades. Every so often she teams up with her friend Teraxx for some field research or to oversee business details. Most of her time is spent in the goblin quarter of Orgrimmar running Crypt's financial dealings. She hates the location but its access to black market trades is too convenient to pass up for somewhere more comfortable. It’s also somewhat out of sight of Hellscream's brutal orcs.

1.6 Afterdeath

Another of the Forsaken who awoke in Deathknell about the same time as Cryptography, Afterdeath was a novice priestess of the light in Lordaeron as a mortal. She has slowly continued her development as a priest of shadow ever since. She is rather bookish so has developed talents as both an apothecary and scribe. More recently she's felt the need to get out and see the world so has teamed up with Cryptseeker to broaden her horizons.

1.7 Methane

Methane is a giant Tauren male. He’s felt awkward and clumsy for most of his life but is a very peaceful soul not at all drawn to the hunting and warrior ways of his tribe. Druidism has been a great solace for him and the abilities he gains, especially in cat form, have made him far more comfortable and confident. Though he's still relatively young for a Tauren, he’s such a calm spirit that he has now been appointed a young troll apprentice, Ethane. Methane has so far loved the teaching role and is looking forward to being able to challenge tougher opponents as soon as Ethane grows in skill.

1.8 Cyanade

A relatively skilled young troll Shaman, Cyanade was seriously injured in a fall at the time of the Burning Crusade. Her injuries had left her mostly crippled and semi- paralysed for several years. She has survived in Orgrimmar by working as a leatherworker when she's able.

Recently her injuries appear to have healed well enough for her to be more active so she's sought some adventures with a goblin hunter in the guild, Weegilzasz.

1.9 Ashnazg

Ashnazg is a reluctant member of the Horde. A paladin of great resolve and an inflexible moral code, Ash was absolutely devastated to discover how badly his people had been betrayed by Prince Kael and the blood knight leadership. He works to crush evil on every front but is often confronted by difficult choices when working for the Horde. Most recently he’s teamed up with an idealistic young blood elf hunter, Petulant, and the two of them are forging their own path as best they can in a murky world.

1.10 Decrypted

Decrypted is a stalwart warrior and the last of this group of Forsaken to arise in Deathknell all those years ago with Crypt and the others. At one time he was the mightiest amongst that group, proudly charging into battle against the Crusade or the myriad other threats faced by the Horde and the Guild. For a time he even took on the guild master role when Crypt went off exploring. Somewhere along the way he became disillusioned with the tasks asked of him and has since spent most of his time, and a great deal of money, on wine, women and song in Undercity or Orgrimmar dives. Cash having nearly run out, he’s signed on as bodyguard to an energetic new Forsaken Warlock, Ebonfane. The spirit of adventure may yet rise again for this grizzled old veteran.

2.1 Teraxx

The troll huntress Teraxx has formed an unlikely friendship with Mortified the Forsaken Mage. Teraxx is of the Darkspears and completed her training only a few months before they made their push to retake Echo Isles. She played a very minor role in that event but encountered Cryptography and other CL members during that period. Once the dust settled she signed on with CL and has performed various scouting and exploration missions for the guild since then. She came to the attention of Mortified, guild paymaster and administrator, after a particularly successful raid against the elves in Ashenvale. Mortified asked Teraxx to assist her in her next excursion into the wilds. The two found in each other a complementary spirit and worked very well together as a team. Mortified extended her excursion so that she could assist with Teraxx's training. Over several months they grew to be a very well balanced pair and, with mage portals at hand, can act as a quick strike team pretty much anywhere in the known worlds.

Teraxx is somewhat bored in Orgrimmar when Mortified is busy being an administrator but spends the time training her pets and mentoring other hunters. As soon as Mort can free up the time though they are off on adventures together.
